FAMILY, friends, neighbours and volunteers are setting off at lunchtime today for the second “foot search” for missing Derry pensioner John Concannon.
The 71-year-old and who suffers from dementia, was last seen on Lenamore Road late on Tuesday afternoon of last week after getting a wrong bus from the city centre.
CCTV footage released on Friday showed him on the bus clutching a newspaper.
Family and friends, police on both sides of the border, volunteers from the Community Rescue Service and an underwater search team, backed up by a helictoper, have carried out searches in the area.
On Saturday, around 100 people took part in the search around the Lenamore Road area.
Today, a trained search dog will also be used in the hope of locating John.
As yet there have been no sightings of missing John who lives at Altcar Park in Galliagh.
Today, volunteers, neighbours, family and friends are gathering at 12 noon for the ‘foot search’.
They have arranged to meet up at the Irish school on Lenamore Road.
Those taking part are advised to wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
Farmers in Donegal have been urged by Gardai to search sheds and outbuildings in case John has taken shelter from the elements.
