FIVE ARRESTS IN MAJOR CRIME CRACKDOWN ACROSS ‘NORTH AREA’

PSNI DRUG RAIDSPOLICE across the ‘North Area’ say officers five people during a major anti-crime operation last week.

The ‘North Area’ takes in the Derry City and Strabane, Causeway Coast and Glens, Mid and East Antrim and Antrim and Newtownabbey policing areas.

The PSNI say that ‘Operation Hubble’ focused local policing priorities including tackling burglary, the misuse and distribution of illegal drugs and the threat posed by terrorists.

Chief Superintendent Raymond Murray has provided more detail on the outcomes of the operation which took place last Thursday.

He said: “Three properties were searched on Thursday and three vehicles were seized by officers out on the ground.

“We also breath tested three people and searched five others under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The aim of the operation was operation was to prevent, detect and deter crime with attention paid to travelling criminals and organised crime.

“Our aim is to keep people safe and we would like to thank the public for their support and patience during the operation.”

Chief Superintendent Murray added: “In the weeks ahead we will continue to provide a visible presence and would encourage the public to work with us and report any criminal or suspicious activity as soon as possible.”

Police also said that there are no further break down of figures currently available dealing with specific districts in the ‘North Area’.
