POLICE have warned the public to vigilant in Feeney area of Dungiven following claims of a possible explosive device being left in the area.
An anonymous telephone call was passed to police on Tuesday evening making the claim.
It is a similar ‘modus operandi’ to one in Drumsurn almost two weeks ago when a lethal bomb was eventually found.
That device had been left five weeks previously and aimed at trying to kill Army Reserve soldiers on manoeuvres in the Drumsurn area.
Superintendent John Magill said today: “At this time we are focussing on the Carnanbane Road and Banagher Road areas, however no object has been found at this time.
“I would ask local people to be vigilant.
“If you see any suspicious objects please do not touch them, instead inform police straight away by dialling 999.”
