DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit probing a bomb attack at the Waterfoot Hotel in Derry two months ago have arrested two men for questioning.
They were detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act during a planned arrest and search operation in the Omagh area today.
Detective Inspector Adrian Brown said: “The men, aged 34 and 41,have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.”
They can be held for up to 48 hours before either being charged or released.
Detectives can apply to a judge to have an extension to their detention.
The device was found in the grounds of the Waterfoot Hotel on October 9.
The hotel was to have been used by the PSNI as a recruitment open day.
However, the hotel subsequently cancelled the event in the interests of the safety of staff and patrons using the complex in the Waterside area.
