A SECOND man has been charged with the attempted murder of a Catholic police officer in Castlederg in 2008.
The 44-year-old is also charged with causing an explosion and belonging to a proscribed organisation, namely the IRA.
He is due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court in County Tyrone on Friday.
On Thursday, Gavin Coyle, 38, was also with attempting to murder the police officer.
Police told a court yesterday that they secretly recorded a Real IRA meeting where bomb making techniques were discussed.
A detective said voice analysis of the meeting confirmed Coyle’s voice as one of those present.
Coyle, from Culmore Road, Omagh, but whose address was given as Maghaberry Prison, also faced charges of causing an explosion likely to endanger life and membership of the IRA.
He is currently serving a ten-year sentence for possessing an arms and explosives.
Coyle was due for release next year on a five year supervised licence.
