RESIDENTS in the Creggan estate say their homes are under threat as heavy rain led to muddy flood water to cascade into their back gardens today.
The flooded gardens is as a result of a long spell of heavy rain which has swept across the city on strong winds from Storm Desmond.
The Met Office has warned that over the weekend as much as 40 mm of water will fall across the North West.
It will lead to roads flooding and will make driving conditions hazardous.
Gallons of muddy water has been pouring down into back gardens in the Ballymagowan area from sodden fields behind the properties.
And it will not get any better as more heavy rain is forecast for Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning.
In response, Derry council has hired a contractor to move sandbags into the area to protect homes over the next 24 hours in an effort to stop them being flooded.
