SINN Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell is to host a meeting with various agencies today following serious flooding at the back of homes in the Ballymagowan area of Creggan on Saturday.
Muddy water from flooded fields at the rear of Ballymagowan Avenue homes cascaded into residents’ back gardens early on Saturday morning following a torrential downpour.
Apex Housing Association had to draft in a contractor to bring in sandbags to protects homes from flooding.
Councillor Campbell said: “Following Saturdays incidents of flooding I spoke to the Rivers Agency they sent a team up to assess the damage and provide sandbags to all households that needed them.
“Apex has also been up and I am in contact with both Apex and Rivers Agency to make sure that everything possible is being done to protect the homes.
“I will be hosting a meeting today to resolve this issue once and for all,” he added.
