SMOKE ALARM DETECTS FLUE FIRE IN CREGGAN HOUSE

CREWS from Northland station responded to a report of a fire at a mid-terrace house at Marlborough Avenue in the Creggan area at the weekend.

Firefighters used a hosereel jet to deal with the fire in the defective flue in the adjacent property on Saturday.

An NIFRS spokesman said: “The cause of the fire appeared accidental.

“Smoke from the fire activated the smoke alarm.”
