THE Alley Theatre has just announced a packed programme of concerts, exhibitions, festivals and drama for the Winter/Spring season.
The programme features over 70 events, including TV’s million dollar mind reader David Meade, award-winning Montana native comedian Rich Hall, and closer to home, Irish comedians Conal Gallen and Al Porter.
The Alley also welcomes a wide array of local talent, including an enhanced programme of events for the Strabane Drama Festival.
The Brass Band League Championships return with over 21 bands competing in four section groups. And renowned Irish musician, songwriter and uilleann pipe player, Davy Spillane, will be joined onstage at the Alley by Blackie O’Connell and Cyril O’Donoghue for the first time.
Family audiences can look forward to a range of exciting events including Strabane Arts Academy’s 2016 pantomime Mulan; the spectacular Replay Theatre Company with their energetic, wigglesome, gigglesome mash up of words and rhythms, Wigglegiggle; Encore Performing Arts with the ever popular High School Musical; Lyngo Theatre with The Curious Adventures of Pinocchio, and St Marys primary school Cloghcor with Children of Lir and Other Tales.
There will be plenty of laughter on the cards in the new season as Northern Ireland’s favourite dysfunctional family returns to the Alley Theatre with Give My Head Peace.
While Spike Milligan’s comic masterpiece Puckoon will have you in stitches as a new border is drawn through the small village of Puckoon.
The fun continues with the sequel to The History of the Troubles (accordin’ to my Da) as legendary writer and producer Martin Lynch brings The History of the Peace (accordin’ to my Ma) to the Alley stage.
Not forgetting music fans, JMG Music Group brings two outstanding country music shows from A Night with the Stars, including the likes of John Hogan, Ritchie Remo and Joe Moore, to The Legends of American Country.
Tom Kelly presents tributes to John Denver with Eurovision contestant Marc Roberts and Jim Reeves by Gentleman Al Grant.
Launching the new programme, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Elisha McCallion, said: “The Alley Theatre is a fantastic cultural hub for the district and the programme released today provides local and visiting audiences of all ages with a wide range of activities and events to look forward to.
“I will certainly be coming back to the Alley to enjoy some of the many events in the coming months.”
The Alley Theatre facilitates a range of Arts Development Adult and Children’s workshops as well as a vibrant collection of exhibitions in the gallery space.
