A book of essays on the peacemaker life of former SDLP leader John Hume was launched in Derry last night.
Hundreds of people turned up for the event in the City Hotel in Derry.
John was present with his stalwart wife Pat.
SDLP leader Colum Eastwood said: “It was great to honour John Hume last night, a giant in Irish politics at the launch of a book of essays on John Hume: Irish Peacemaker edited by Sean Farren and Denis Haughey.”
The book will be launched in Belfast on Tuesday, December 15, in Canada Room, Queen’s University Belfast.
On this evening there will be a panel discussion on ‘John Hume’s Contribution to Politics’ with contributors to the book: Arthur Aughey, Cathy-Gormley Heenan, Maurice Hayes and Éamon Phoenix, moderated by Jim Fitzpatrick.
