The 44-year-old was detained in the Ballymagowan area of the Creggan estate on Tuesday morning over “serious criminal offences” in the city, said the PSNI.
Police statement added: “The arrest was in relation to bomb incidents at the Crawford Square probation offices and the Limavady Road Army Reserve camp.”
A device detonated outside the Probation Board offices during a security alert in Derry on April 27.
Eight days later on May 4, two devices partially exploded after being left in bags at the fence of the Army Reserve base.
Residents were evacuated from their homes but in both incidents, police said they had received inadequate warnings.
The man who was detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act by TIU detectives and has been taken to the serious crime suite at Musgrave police station in Belfast for questioning.
