THE PSNI say they have been receiving reports of an increase in “parking nuisances” in Derry city centre in the run up to Christmas.
This is in relation to cars being parked in an “indiscriminate way that causes an obstruction” to other drivers and pedestrians.
A spokesperson for PSNI Foyle said: “While enforcing the parking restrictions is primarily a matter for the parking attendants, police have powers in relation to vehicles causing an obstruction.
“The city centre, John Street and the approaches to multi-storey car parks are areas where problems arise.
“We appreciate this is a busy time, but thoughtless parking can pose a risk as well as an inconvenience for other road users and pedestrians.
“Christmas can be expensive enough without receiving a parking ticket.
“Always park in a considerate manner.”
