DETECTIVES have charged a 20-year-old with robbery and possessing a firearm.
It follows an incident in which a man was struck on the face with a gun in Derry over the weekend.
Police said the attack happened around 12.15 am on Saturday morning.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Three men entered a flat and assaulted a man and woman.
“A firearm and a knife were used in the incident and the male victim was struck on the face with the gun.
“It was recovered in follow up searches.
“The culprits demanded money from one of the victims, and made their escape with two mobile phones, cash and a holdall containing Christmas presents.
”One man was arrested.”
The suspect has also been charged with false imprisonment, possessing a blade and common assault.
He is due to appear at Derry Magistrates’ later this morning for a first remand hearing.
