WATERSIDE Sinn Féin Councillor Christopher Jackson has urged anyone with information about a sectarian attack on three Protestant youths at the weekend to contact police.
He said that sectarianism had no place in a city like Derry.
Three young Protestant teenagers were attacked at the cityside entrance to the Peace Bridge in Derry at the weekend.
One of the victims sustained a broken nose in the attack. They were going to meet a number of Catholic friends when they were assaulted.
Three youths were later arrested but have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Police are treating the assaults as a sectarian hate crime.
Said Councillor Jackson: “There can be no place for sectarianism in our city.
“Great strides have been made improving community relations in Derry in recent years and those efforts will not be set back by attacks like this.
“This is a city moving forward and no one wants to see these types of incidents taking place.
“I would call on anyone with information on this attack to contact the PSNI.”
