HEAVY rain left a woman trapped in her car due to flooding in the Rosemount area of Derry last night.
However, she managed to free herself before the fire service arrived at the scene.
A yellow rain warning is in place across parts of the North of Ireland as Storm Frank heads in from the Atlantic today.
Torrential rain is forecast for Derry and the west along with gusting winds.
Overnight, there have been reports of flooding on some roads, particularly in the west.
Dermot Rooney, from the Fire and Rescue Service, said they had received six calls for assistance on Monday afternoon and evening.
“We had a call to the Rosemount area of Derry,” he said.
“On our arrival, a female had been removed from the car prior to our arrival, uninjured as far as I know.
“We would ask people, particularly when they’re out in cars, not to drive into flood water.
“Flood water can seem shallow, but it doesn’t take very much water to make a car float away.”
