DOIRE manager Damian Barton got off to a winning start in this afternoon’s first round clash in the Dr McKenna Cup against Antrim at Owenbeg.
The Oakleafers ran out convincing winners with all six forwards getting on the score sheet.
Two goals from debutant Shane Heavron (right) in the first half which deservedly earned the Magherafelt forward the Bank of Ireland Man of the Match award.
In the second half, Emmett McGuckin scored Derry’s fourth goal with a penalty kick.
The penalty resulted in a black card for Antrim’s Kerr.
Ciaran McFaul grabbed a late point for Derry giving them a ten point win minutes after Niall Loughlin scored a brilliant point from a Ryan Bell free.
