SINN Féin Councillor Colly Kelly commenting after the robbery of a bookmakers at Blucher Street on Tuesday night.
During the incident a man produced a knife before fleeing on foot with a some of cash from the McLean’s shop.
Said Cllr Kelly: “Once again we are greeted with the news that a small business has been subjected to a robbery.
“This bookies was also the target of an attempted robbery back in July of last year.
“Many small businesses are struggling to keep their doors open in January and providing much needed employment for local people.
“The staff are only doing a day’s work and should not be subject to this type of threat and intimidation.
“I would appeal to anyone with information on this incident to bring it forward so that those responsible can be held to account by the justice system.”
