BUDGET airline Ryanair has confirmed it has axed its summer service from City of Derry Airport to Alicante in Spain.
The airline says the route “did not meet load factors” to continue as a viable service.
But Ryanair said that it would be increasing its flights from Derry to Faro in Portugal’s Algarve region.
The news comes as Ryanair says it is heading to Belfast International Airport to run four flights daily to Gatwick.
The Irish airline snapped up the slots vacated by Aer Lingus who pulled out of the International Airport.
