SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has called on Transport NI to carry out a safety review of the roadway at Southway.
She said: “I have been contacted by a number of local residents concerned about the speed of some of the traffic travelling through the area.
“This is a half mile of road and particularly the downhill section lends itself to vehicles picking up speed.
“Residents have asked me to contact Transport NI (Road Service) to see if it was is feasible to put in place any measures that could slow down traffic on this section.
“It’s always important that we take on board residents concerns and see if we can get solutions,” added Cllr Logue.
