ALL roads lead to Armagh this weekend as Derry taken on Cavan in the semi-final of the Dr McKenna Cup.
Damian Barton’s Oak Leafers made it into the last four as best runners up, finishing second behind Tyrone in Group C.
Derry beat Antrim in their opening match (4-16 to 2-12) of the competiton.
But they battled bravely with 14 men last Sunday at Owenbeg to lose by one point to Tyrone (4-06 to 1-16) after a controversial red card decision.
Then on Wednesday night, following a game switch to Celtic Park, Derry ran out three point winners against Queen’s (0-17 to 2-8).
Reaching the final would be a huge boost for Derry, the county and new manager Damian Barton as he tries to rebuild the team and up their performances this season.
En route to the semi-final, Cavan have beaten Armagh and Ulster Univeristy before drawing their last game on Wednesday night against Monaghan (0-14 each) at Kingspan Brefni Park.
Bookies Paddy Power has Derry as 5/6 favourites to win the match and reach the final while Cavan are quoted at 6/5.
In the other semi-final to be played at Clones, Tyrone are the bookies odds on favourite at 1/3 while opponents Fermanagh are 3/1.
Both game – with throw ins at 2 pm – are quoted at 15/2 odds for a draw.
