DRIVERS are being urged to take care on Derry’s roads this morning after overnight snow and ice.
A yellow warning issued by the Met Office remains in place until 12 noon today.
It appears the city and the county survived the worst of the snowfall which blanketed other parts of the North of Ireland overnight.
But there could be ice on the roads so take extra care and slow down.
Gritter lorries at Crescent Link in Derry have had a busy overnight and early morning to keep the roads clear.
Snow is lying a little deeper on higher ground.
There is reported to be difficult driving conditions in and around Limavady and Magilligan so taken care there too.
Another snow shower front is heading in this morning is expected but it is expected to brighten up after lunchtime.
Transport NI said salting has been carried out and all main routes are passable with care.
A spokesperson added: “Road users through the morning journey to work and school-run should expect difficult driving conditions and take extreme care.”
