DETECTIVES in Derry are investigating a suspected arson attack this morning.
The fire broke out at the rear of a house at Liscloon Drive in Shantallow.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Donnell said: “A passing police patrol noticed the fire at a shed to the rear of the property at around 6.30 am this morning.
“Fire service personnel attended the scene a short time later and extinguished the fire.
“Whilst no-one was injured as a result of this incident, it could well have quickly become a lot more serious due to the close proximity of the oil tank to the fire. “
Detective Constable Donnell would ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time and noticed any suspicious activity to contact officers at Reactive and Organised Crime in Strand Road on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
