SINN Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell has appealed for attacks on gritter lorries in Creggan to stop.
He was appealing after a number of incidents in the area during last week’s snow and ice.
Councillor Campbell said: “I was contacted by a number of residents with the news that gangs of young people were attacking the gritting lorry with snowballs.
“The last time this happened stones were also thrown at the lorry and Roads Service took the service off.
“The Creggan area needs the gritter in to salt the main roads for buses and cars to move freely.
“I would appeal for these attacks on a vital service to stop and for residents to be mindful of where their children are at.
“Children should be in their beds at that time of the night not running about the streets attacking gritting lorries.”
