A mother of three says she is quitting her Derry home after a suspected arson attack at the weekend.
The shed at the back of the house was gutted in a fire early on Saturday morning.
A police patrol spotted the fire and rescued Lisa Scarlett, her children and her nephew from the property in Liscloon Drive in Shantallow.
The police have said they are investigating a suspected arson attack.
Lisa said that it was a terrifying experience and her “nerves were wrecked”.
“I got woke up by the police coming up my stairs shouting that there was a fire and that we had to get out quick.
“I started grabbing the children and running down the stairs with them and waited for the fire brigade.
“I just want out now as I don’t feel safe in my home anymore. The children keep talking about the fire.”
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Donnell said: “A passing police patrol noticed the fire at a shed to the rear of the property at around 6.30 am on Saturday morning.
“Fire service personnel attended the scene a short time later and extinguished the fire.
“Whilst no-one was injured as a result of this incident, it could well have quickly become a lot more serious due to the close proximity of the oil tank to the fire. “
Detective Constable Donnell would ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time and noticed any suspicious activity to contact officers at Reactive and Organised Crime in Strand Road on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
