THE SDLP in Foyle is calling for a special meeting of Derry City and Strabane District Council to discuss the future of Foyle Haven.
Foyle Haven provides accommodation, food and support services to vulnerable members of the local community including the homeless and street drinkers.
The service is currently at risk of closing as funding is running out.
SDLP Foyle MLAs Mark H Durkan, party leader Colum Eastwood and Gerry Diver met Foyle Haven today to discuss their funding difficulties with.
“Given the various statutory agencies that have a role to play in helping to continue this vital service for vulnerable citizens, we are calling for a special Derry City and Strabane District Council meeting to advance matters,” they said.
