SINN Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell is calling on the Housing Executive to clarify the situation around the window replacement scheme for Rinmore Drive.
Councillor Kevin Campbell said: “I have been informed that the window replacement scheme, which was to happen in 2016, may possibly be put back for another year.
“If this is true then this is totally unacceptable.
“I have been lobbying Housing Executive for the past three years to have this scheme introduced and i was assured that the scheme would happen this year.
“The windows in Rinmore Drive are wooden framed and since they were installed there has been nothing but complaints from the residents with serious draughts blowing through the window frames, leaving the homes freezing during the winter and in some cases there are serious leeks with rain water causing mould on the window frames on the inside leading to damp.
“The residents of Rinmore Drive have had to tolerate a lot over the years the latest being the damp problems in their homes.
“Senior management of Housing Executive agreed to engage a consultancy firm to get to the problem of damp and still to date there is no sign of this happening and now this latest news.
“I am calling on senior management of Housing Executive to clarify this situation immediately.
“The residents of Rinmore Drive have had enough,” added councillor Campbell.
