TWO men have arrested after drugs were seized by police in Derry as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on dealers across the city.
The PSNI said the men were detained under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act after police carried out a number of searches yesterday to hit dealers in their pockets by seizeing their illegal drugs.
Herbal cannabis was recovered from three addresses in the Ballymagroarty area.
Police say a 41 year old man and a 21 year old man were arrested.
They have now been released pending reports to the Public Prosecution Service.
As part of the planned raids, a quantity of herbal cannabis and drug related items were also recovered at a house in the Waterside area.
PSN|I Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan said: “Our illegal drugs operations rely on a combination of proactive policing and information from the community.
“The majority of people accept that drugs are ruining our communities and we are grateful for the continued co-operation of the public as we work to tackle this issue.
“If you have information about drug dealing in your street then you can pass that information to police by ringing the non-emergency number 101 or speaking to a local officer directly.
“If you prefer, you can pass information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
