A MAN regarded as a “high risk missing person” who sparked a major overnight land and sea search has been found.
The police say officers were alerted around 7.30 pm last night after concerns were raised about the man close to the River Foyle.
The emergency sparked Foyle Search and Rescue’s Emergency Response Team into action.
They launched two boats, three mobile units and land crews supported by the PSNI’s ‘India 99’ helicopter which used infra-red heating seeking equipment to try and locate him along the river.
After almost five hours, the search was stood down at 12.15 am this morning.
Two hours later around 2.30 am, police located the man close to Altnagelvin Hospital.
The ‘high risk” missing man was then to A&E department tor treatment.
