FIRE crews were called out to a fire at an end-terraced house at Canal Side in Strabane early this morning.
An NIFRS spokesman said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel jet and a covering jet to put out the fire involving a chip pan.
“Sounding smoke alarm alerted the occupier who was self-rescued.
“Crews administered oxygen therapy to a 22-year-old man for mild smoke inhalation at the scene.
“He was assessed by ambulance personnel but did not attend hospital.
“The cause of the fire appeared accidental.
“Fire crews from Strabane station attended the incident.”
The incident happened just hours after fire chiefs had warned the public of the dangers using chip pans in the home.
