SHE was the final contestant on the show last night and Coleen Gormley’s angelic voice certainly wowed the judges.
And the 28-year-old from Claudy had to wait to the very last second before Will.i.am pushed his button to secure her on his team.
It was the last Blind Audition episode of seven weeks of the latest series on BBC1.
The Claudy lass was the very last contestant of the Blinds and there was only one space left on Will.i.am’s team.
She put an angelic twist on the song ‘When You Say Nothing At All” which was warmly applauded by the studio audience.
But Will wasn’t going to pass on her beautiful voice that also drew strong praise from Boy George, Ricky Wilson and Paloma Faith.
They couldn’t turn for her as they had already filled all 12 spaces on their teams.
Said Will: ‘I was holding out for something angelic, and here you are all dressed in all white.”
‘That’s not white,’ said Boy George tartly. ‘That’s cream darling. It’s taupe.’
“Is it taupe? Rhymes with ‘dope’ ! You’re everything that I hoped.’’ added Will
In her VT Coleen said: “I started singing for my local church, and it’s where I felt at home. My type of music is country music as it has that sort of spiritual age to it. It is the type of music that speaks to the heart.
“I believe a lot in what is meant to be, and I just hope to capture that moment and make everyone feel that yes, I have had that moment”.
Next week, Coleen goes into the sing off battles and hoping to make it all the way to the final.
