DELEGATES are counting down the days to the SDLP’s 2016 annual party conference.
It is just over a week to #SDLP16 which is being held in St Columb’s Hall in Derry on Saturday, March 12.
Last November Foyle MLA Colum Eastwood took over the reins of the party after ousting Dr Alisdair McDonnell as party leader at the party conference in Armagh.
The SDLP statement on this month’s conference states: “This is your chance to join a movement with fresh leadership and fresh ideas capable of shaping Irish politics.
“We have a new leader, a new energetic team of representatives. This conference is the start of a new stage in our political life – make sure you’re part of it.
“Help us Build a Better Future.”
The conference comes just two months before the May 5 Assembly elections.
Old faces have stepped down as MLAs since the last conference: Pat Ramsey, Joe Byrne, John Dallat and Dominic Bradley have left the political battlefield.
In have come Gerry Diver and Daniel McCrossan to name but a few as party leader Colum Eastwood tries to shape his party for a dogfight with Sinn Fein in the elections.
