THUGS HUNTED AFTER MAN ATTACKED IN DERRY’S SHIPQUAY STREET

shipquay-streetPOLICE at Strand Road have appealed for information over an assault in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The man sustained a head injury in Derry city centre around 3 am.

It is alleged the victim was attacked by two men in Shipquay Street (pictured above).

The PSNI were given descriptions of the two attackers.

One is believed to be aged in his 40’s, around 5 ft 9 ins to 6ft tall and with a stocky build.

He is described of as having a shaved hairstyle and was wearing a white jumper and dark jeans.

The other male is said to be of the same height and age and also had a shaved hairstyle.

He was wearing a dark “bomber” jacket and light jeans.

The victim, who is in his 30s and from the city, was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew before being taken to Altnagelvin Hospital to be treated for a head injury.

Following treatment he was later discharged from hospital.

A PSNI spokesperson appealed to anyone with information or who may have witnessed the assault and has not yet come forward to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.
