THE Fire And Rescue Service say that a major blaze at a disused hospital site in Derry this morning was started deliberately.
Around 44 40 firefighters from stations across the city were drafted in to tackle the blaze.
A total of six fire engines were involved in helping to bring the fire under control at the disused Stradreagh Hospital at Gransha.
Fire chiefs says they first got reports about the hospital being on fire around 7 am this morning.
After over five hours, fire crews finally brought the blazed under control around 12.30 pm..
A Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “he cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and PSNI are investigating.”
Detectives from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch are currently at the scene.
