SNOW Patrol star Johnny McDaid has rejected newspaper claims that he is dating an Irish beauty queen turned celebrity blogger.
The Derry man recently split from Friends actress Courteney Cox after a series of rows.
News of the couple’s split surfaced at the end of November after Courteney was photographed without her engagement ring.
The 39-year-old Snow Patrol guitarist reportedly returned to Derry following the break-up.
Now Johnny has moved to quash newspaper claims that he has moved on from Cox and is dating a new woman – Galway girl Meghann Scully.
The Sun newspaper claimed he reportedly met the former model at the Oscar Wilde Awards party last week in LA.
A source told the newspaper’s Dan Wootton: ‘Johnny is very laid back and often found the courtship with Courteney very smothering. Now that he’s single again, he just wants to have fun and enjoy himself.’
The insider added: ‘He feels [he and Meghann] have a lot in common and wants to get to know her better.
‘Johnny and Meghann seemed to get on straight away,’ the source continued. ‘It’s early days but they’re into each other and both seem excited to see where it leads.’
But a spokesman for McDaid has now said: “Johnny is not dating anyone and hasn’t since Courteney Cox.”
Meghann Scully, a videographer and blogger, spent a year in London working for MTV News and used to date Galway hurling star David Burke.
She told the Irish Examiner in 2013 she was “the biggest home bird I know” and loved returning to her family’s farm in Ireland.
McDaid and fellow Snow Patrol rocker Gary Lightbody have recently been writing songs with One Direction’s Harry Styles.
Courteney, 51, was introduced to McDaid by British singer Ed Sheeran in late 2013, and, Johnny popped the question in June, 2014.
The actress was previously married to fellow actor David Arquette from June 1999 until October 2010, when they announced their separation.
The couple finalised their divorce in May 2013.
