POLICE in Derry have appealed for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Foyle Street at the weekend.
Investigating officer Constable Graeme Reynolds said a large crowd of young people were in the area when the assault took place at around 4.45 am on Saturday, March 12.
He said the male was assaulted by an unknown man and sustained sustained cuts and bruises to his face.
Constable Reynolds added: “There was a large crowd of young people in the vicinity of Foyle Street at the time of this assault.
“I would appeal to any of them who may have witnessed this incident to contact Police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
