BOOKS of condolence have been opened at two Derry churches in memory of five members of a local family who tragically lost their lives at the weekend.
One book of condolence has been opened in St Joseph’s Church in Galliagh.
Ruth Daniels and her beautiful teenage daughter Jodie Lee live not far from the church at Ederowen Park.
Sean McGrotty and his two primary school sons, Mark and Evan, also died when their car Audi Q7 car slid into Lough Swilly from the algae covered slipway at Buncrana pier on Sunday evening around 7.30 pm.
The remains of all five victims were returned to their loved ones in Derry today.
All five are being waked at the St Eithne’s Park home of Mr McGrotty and his partner Louise James, the daughter of Ruth Daniels.
They will be laid to rest together in the City Cemetery following a 2.00 pm service on Holy Thursday in the Church of the Holy Family in Ballymagroarty.
A book of condolence has also been opened at the Church of the Holy Family.
