DETECTIVES in Derry are investigating a motive behind an early morning arson attack.
Police say four people inside cheated after a house was targeted in the arson attack.
Three women – aged 61, 54 and 29 – had been in the house as well as a 32-year-old man.
The PSNI say old furniture had been piled against the front for of the house and set alight.
The residents in the property were alerted to the blaze by a smoke alarm and were able to escape through the back door.
The front of the house was badly damaged by the flames.
Detectives from the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch at Strand Road PSNI station are currently trying to establish a motive for the attack.
