DETECTIVES in Derry are on the trail of thieves who burgled a Derry shop at the weekend and made off with £22,000 worth of mobile phones.
The CEX game and phone shop in Ferryquay Street was broken into in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The balloon went up on the raid when the burglar alarm was set off and alerted the security monitoring company.
Detectives from the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch are currently studying CCTV footage of the heist.
They are also studying footage from earlier in the day when the shop was open for business to see if any familiar faces pop up on screen and who may have been scouting the premises ahead of the robbery.
Two masked men are seen on the footage cutting through metal bars at the premises to get into the shop.
Some of the phones stolen cost as much as £600.
The phones taken include IPhone SEs, IPhone 6 and 6 Plus as well as expensive Samsung Galaxy handsets.
However, the thieves may be left hanging on the line.
For NONE of the phones stolen in the break in can be activated by the thieves.
Anyone with information about who was behind the heist, where the phones are being stashed or if you have been offered a phone for sale, is asked to ring detectives at Strand Road on the 101.
Alternatively, you can shop the robbers anonymously to Crimestoppers on freephoe 0800 555 111.
