A WOMAN was rescued from the icy waters of the River Foyle last night.
Police in Derry alerted Foyle Search and Rescue (FSR) following reports that a person had been seen entering the water around 9.45 pm.
Fortunately, Foyal Search Rescue volunteers were already in the area carrying a night navigatation exercise.
FSR volunteers raced to the scene and after locating the woman they pulled her to safety.
She was whisked to Foyle Search and Rescue headquarters where she was given first aid.
Paramedics from the NI Ambulance Service then arrived and conveyed her to hospital.
