POLICE VOW TO CONTINUE CRACKDOWN ON CAR CRIMINALS

burned-car-webTHE PSNI in Derry say they are determined to put car criminals off the roads and behind bars.

It follows a recent spate of incidents in the city with cheap ‘run around’ cars being driven around at speed on estates and abandoned.

Some have been set on fire to destroy leaving any forensic evidence.

A police spokesperson said: “Yesterday Ballyarnett NPT Charged a male to court for 8 driving offences including Dangerous Driving.

“Another male was reported for three driving offences the day before.

“These both related to Anti-Social Driving in Galliagh and Shantallow.

“In both cases the cars were seized.

“We are committed to catching and prosecuting those who think it is acceptable to rally around the estates without any consideration to other road users and local residents.”
