William Brian O’Donnell (42) of Craigbrack Road, Eglinton, Derry, was also ordered to pay compensation costs of £4,368 when he faced Derry Magistrates’ Court for breaches of waste management legislation.
Officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency visited the site at Craigbrack Road, Eglinton on numerous occasions between September 2013 and March 2015.
There they found quantities of construction and demolition waste deposited and stored on site.
Mr O’Donnell did not hold the relevant waste management licence or an exemption to deposit or store waste at this location.
He pleaded guilty to, and was fined £750 for each of, four charges under The Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997:
- one charge under Article 4 (1) (a) relating to the illegal deposit of controlled waste. For depositing controlled waste in or on any land unless a waste management licence authorising the deposit is in force and the deposit is in accordance with the licence.
- three charges under Article 4(1) (b) relating to the illegal keeping of controlled waste. For keeping controlled waste in or on land unless a waste management licence authorising the storage is in force and the storage is in accordance with the licence.
