POLICE are on the trail of a driver behind a hit-and-run accident in Derry which left a woman in hospital.
The incident happened the Racecourse Road on Sunday morning last around 9 am which involved a car and female cyclist.
The woman, who is aged in her 40’s, sustained injuries that required treatment at Altnagelvin Hospital.
Police say the car involved was a blue people carrier type vehicle.
The driver is said to have get out of the car at the time but then left the scene a short time later without waiting or reporting the accident to police.
He is described as being aged in his 40’s and being bald. He had a number of children in the car at the time the accident
Constable Barry O’Neill said: “I would ask the driver of the car, or anyone who knows anything about this road traffic crash, to contact police at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 490 of 29/05/16.”
