SINN FEIN Education spokesperson Councillor Patricia Logue has welcomed the increase in qualifications among school leavers.
She said: “The figures published this week show the significant increase in the number of school leavers achieving at least five GCSEs at grades A*- C.
“It is particularly welcome that attainment rose among pupils in receipt of free school meals.
“This is a direct result of Sinn Féin ministers investing in education and tackling disadvantage.
“These increases are welcome and shows just what successive Sinn Féin education ministers delivered in terms of improving education attainment and our education system generally.
“I hope that this record of increasing attainment will continue under the new minister,” she added.
