AS Strabane makes the final preparations for its annual Summer Jamm Festival, music fans are looking forward to a ‘country fest’ extravaganza headed up by country singing sensation Lisa McHugh.
The popular Scottish songstress has recently been touring the UK and will be stopping off to entertain the crowds in Strabane as the highlight of the Summer Jamm festival programme on Sunday June 12.
The two day festival, which is organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council with support from Diageo, will take over the streets of Strabane on June 11th and 12th.
The town will set the stage for some traditional country fair style entertainment with live music, dancing, busking, market stalls and even a carnival funfair.
Festivals and Events manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Jacqueline Whoriskey, said they were delighted to secure such a current talent to headline the event. “Lisa McHugh is fast becoming one of the biggest names in country music and she has a dedicated following of music fans – so she was the ideal choice to reflect this year’s country fest theme.
“Lisa’s performance will be the musical highlight of a packed programme of events and we are delighted that the festival has been extended over a full weekend this year due to popular demand.
“Summer Jamm always has a fantastic family friendly vibe, and there really is something for everyone in this year’s programme. Lisa will just be the icing on the cake for serious country music fans!”
Currently living in Ireland Lisa’s latest single ‘Bring on the Good Times’ has won her critical acclaim, taken from her current album Wildfire which reached number seven in the Irish charts.
And her unique talent has also secured her the title of ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ for the third year running at the Sunday World Awards back in January.
You can hear Lisa during the fantastic afternoon concert at the Score Site where she will be supported by the talented Ritchie Remo.
The entertainment will have you on your feet from 3pm – 7.30pm.
Tickets for the Score Site concert event are now available from the Alley Theatre Box Office priced £3 for adults and £9 for family groups, including two adults and three children.
