POLICE are investigating a report of an assault on a 23 year old male in Derry city centre.
The victim was attacked by four males in the Shipquay Street area at around 11.30pm on Saturday, 21 May.
But details have only now been released by police.
He sustained a broken nose and laceration to his eye during the vicious assault.
Investigating officer Constable Dan Lowe has appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number, quoting reference number 584 23/05/16.
Constable Lowe added: “Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
