Former Mayor Elisha McCallion
FORMER Mayor and Sinn Féin Councillor Elisha McCallion has welcomed the Council’s backing for her proposal for a “ Fanzone” for the remainder of the European Finals in France.
It will cover Republic of Ireland and N. Ireland games, the semis and Final.
Belfast already has had one in place at Titanic since the finals kicked off last week by host nation France.
Councillor McCallion said: “I am glad that council have backed my proposal today.
“There has been a growing lobby for a Fanzone since the tournament started.
“Hopefully this will go some way to encourage football fans into our city centre. The games will be shown on the big screen at Waterloo Place.”
