DETECTIVES have arrested two men and a woman have been arrested in Derry during an intelligence-led crackdown on the sale of counterfeit goods.
The two men are aged 30 and 32 and the women arrested is 42-years-old after fake clothing, music and films were found when police during searches on a number of homes and a mobile shop.
The raids were carried out in Derry’s cityside by detectives from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch and Local Policing Teams.
As well as the large haul of counterfeit goods, officers also uplifted documents and around £2,500 in cash.
The 32-year-old man has since been interviewed and released on bail pending completion of further enquiries.
The other two arrested, a man and a woman, remain in custody at Strand Road PSNI Station.
Detective Inspector Tom McClure, from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch said: “The counterfeit market damages our local economy and diverts much needed finance away from small and local businesses.
“There are also instances where the counterfeit market is used to fund organised crime and terrorism.
“We would ask the public to support us as we work to address this criminality and would encourage anyone who has information to contact us on 101.”
