A MAN was led to safety following a fire at his home in Derry at the weekend.
The Fire and Rescue Service say crews from Northland and Crescent Link station were alerted following a 999 call on Saturday night.
A spokesperson said: “Crews responded to a fire at a flat at Crawford Square in the Northland area of Derry.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel jet and a CO2 extinguisher to put out the fire.
“Crews rescued a 50-year-old man from the premises.
“He received treatment from ambulance personnel at the scene.”
It is not known how the fire started.
