A COMMUNITY alert has gone out to residents living in the Meadows area of Derry.
They have been warned to be “more aware” of their home security as their homes are being “targeted” by criminals.
The alarm was sounded in a “Community Awareness Notice” circulated by the Outer North Community Safety Team following a spate of criminal incidents.
The warning notice reads: “You may be aware that there has been a significant upsurge in criminal activities in the Meadows area in recent weeks.
“There have been several incidents of break-ins, burglaries and car thefts which seem to be concentrated in your area, particularly in the early hours of the morning.
“It appears that your area is being targeted and we urge you to be more aware of your home security.”
Anyone affected is asked to contact the Outer North Community Safety Team via the PSNI on the 101 number, the Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), their local elected councillor or community workers.
