Police crime scene picPOLICE are seeking the public’s help in locating a male who was spotted on the Bann Bridge in Kilrea, Co Derry in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A passing motorist saw a young man sitting on the bridge with his legs over the edge at around 3.30 am.

The PSNI say: “They were concerned and turned their vehicle around to go back and check on him.

“When they arrived back at the bridge just a few minutes later there was no sign of the male.

“A search of the area and river, in conjunction with Community Search and Rescue, has not located anything that suggests a person has actually entered the water however we need to be sure and so we are appealing for the public’s help.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area or travelling along the Bann Road Avenue at around 3.30am and who may have seen a young man in the area or on the bridge.

“We have not received any reports of anyone missing locally however for anyone having trouble reaching a young male family member or friend today, if you are concerned, please get in touch.

“Police can be contacted on 101, quoting reference 208 25/06/16. Or in an emergency by calling 999.”
